We at Copper Mountain Dental in Herriman are aware of the recent decision regarding fluoride in our local water supply. The removal of fluoride goes into effect today (Wednesday May 7th). We want to take a moment to share our perspective and assure you that your dental health remains our top priority.

While the ingestion of fluoride through water has been shown to have benefits in preventing tooth decay, it's important to remember that fluoride can also be effectively applied topically, directly to your teeth. This allows you to receive its protective benefits without systemic ingestion.

At Copper Mountain Dental, we respect your individual choices and autonomy regarding fluoride. For those of you who wish to avoid fluoride, we fully respect your decision and will never pressure you. We are committed to helping all our patients maintain excellent oral health. In these cases, we can work with you on other effective tooth decay prevention measures such as guidance on sugar avoidance, recommendations for hydroxyapatite toothpaste, and reinforcement of proper oral hygiene techniques.

For those who wish to maximize the benefits of fluoride for cavity prevention, we offer professional topical fluoride varnish applications right here in our office. This is a safe and effective way to strengthen your enamel. Additionally, for patients who are more prone to cavities, Dr. Lindgren can prescribe high-fluoride toothpaste to use at home.

So, moving forward we will be available Thursdays and not Tuesdays 🙂

So, it will now be Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and then still our one Wednesday once a month from 2-7
