True or false: Chocolate is actually a better candy choice for your little ones' teeth than sticky, chewy sweets? 🍫✨

True! As counterintuitive as it sounds, Dr. Brett and our team at Just4Kids Teeth often tell parents that chocolate gets the green light over gummies and caramels. Here is why:

It washes away easily: Unlike sticky gummies, caramels, or hard candies that cling to the grooves of growing teeth for hours, plain chocolate melts quickly and washes away much faster with saliva and water.

No trapped sugars: Sticky treats lock sugars directly against the enamel, feeding cavity-causing bacteria. Chocolate doesn't stick around to cause the same kind of prolonged trouble.

Keep it simple: When treating your kids to a sweet, opt for plain milk chocolate and always have them brush and floss afterward!

Happy National Dental Hygiene Month! 🎃🍂

At Just4Kids Teeth, we believe a healthy smile is gourd-geous! This October, we are celebrating the season by brushing up on our favorite fall-themed tips to keep your little pumpkin’s teeth healthy and bright. Don't let cavity creeps leaf a mark—check out our quick tips for every age group below!

🍂 Sweet Tips for Every Stage:

Little Sprouts (Ages 0-3): Don't fall behind on first visits! Be sure to establish a "Dental Home" by their first birthday to set them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles. Remember to use a soft cloth to clean gums before teeth arrive and switch to a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste once they do.

Growing Pumpkins (Ages 4-7): Keep brush-in’ those boo-tiful teeth for two minutes, twice a day! If they are hesitant, try playing their favorite fall song. We are very proud (or prod-uce) of their efforts!

Mighty Maples (Ages 8+): Don't make an ash of dental care! Encourage thorough flossing daily to get those hard-to-reach places. We promise, it’s a standard of care that works!

Make sure you get into a rootine this season! We are here to help you harvest some good habits. Ask us any questions about keeping your family’s teeth fall-ing in line with health below!

While the calendar says it’s time for sweata weatha and pumpkin spice, the Tennessee heat dome clearly missed the memo! We might be sweating through our scarves today, but that won't stop us from celebrating the start of autumn.
