Facial aesthetics is about more than the product being injected. It begins with understanding the individual anatomy beneath the skin.

At my Henderson, NV practice, I use AccuVein® technology before certain Botox® Cosmetic, Juvéderm® dermal filler, and facial aesthetic treatments when additional visualization may be helpful.

AccuVein uses near-infrared technology to help visualize superficial veins beneath the skin, giving me another layer of information when planning selected treatments.

It doesn't replace experience, detailed knowledge of facial anatomy, careful technique, or clinical judgment and it doesn't eliminate the possibility of bruising or other injection-related risks. It's simply another tool I can use to approach treatment thoughtfully and conservatively.

Can You Get Dental Implants if You Have Osteoporosis and Take Tymlos®?

For many patients, osteoporosis does not automatically rule out dental implants. But successful treatment requires looking beyond a diagnosis or medication name.

Tymlos® (abaloparatide) is an anabolic osteoporosis medication that works differently from antiresorptive medications. When I evaluate a patient for dental implants, I consider the entire picture including the bone available at the implant site, gum health, medical and medication history, healing capacity, bite forces, and the design of the final restoration.

Current research regarding dental implants in patients with osteoporosis is encouraging. However, we do not yet have strong human clinical evidence showing that Tymlos itself improves dental implant success. Understanding that distinction is important.

Has weight loss changed your face in ways you weren’t expecting?

GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide have helped many people achieve significant weight loss but changes in facial volume can sometimes come along with it.

You may notice flatter cheeks, hollowing around the temples or eyes, deeper smile lines, changes around the lips, or more noticeable skin laxity.
