We believe wisdom teeth should be removed between the ages of 16 and 25. Literature supports that removing the teeth in this age range allows the body to regenerate healthy bone. So all the damage that the wisdom teeth can cause, whether it’s bone loss infection, or the inability of the neighboring tooth to erupt, can be reversed. I would encourage patients that are undergoing orthodontic treatment to have a full panoramic X-ray taken so that a surgeon and or an orthodontist can evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth in their relation to the neighboring teeth. So that post orthodontic treatment, there’s no relapse.
