18 May 2020
Today, Governor Baker announced an initial reopening plan for dental practices. Phase 1, which is currently expected to begin Monday, May 25, includes an increase in allowable dental procedures.
When Phase 1 begins, we will be able to treat patients with emergent or likely to become emergent circumstances if care is deferred. This includes broken or sensitive teeth, fractured crowns, loose crowns/bridges and many other conditions. Treatment will be at the discretion of our office.
Routine hygiene (cleaning appointments) are expected to be part of Phase 2, a minimum of three weeks after Phase 1 begins.
Please call our office @978.373.0901 if you have any further questions. Guidelines are changing daily, so please be patient as we try to return to “normal”.

Our top priority is the health of our patients, staff and community. In accordance with the new recommendations by Governer Baker, the Center for Disease Control, and the Mass Dental Society, we have made the difficult decision to close our practice until at least June 1st, 2020 for hygiene and non emergent dental care.

We will be implementing Phase I which is emergent and at risk emergent dental care. If you feel you fall into this category please call the office at 978-373-0901 and we will return your call ASAP.

We do not take this decision lightly. We are continually updating our infection control policies. These are regularly being updated by the CDC, ADA, and OSHA. This will insure a safe environment when we return to work.

Sincerely,

Dr. Karl and Staff

Notice of Temporary Closure until at least 18 May

Dear Patients:
Our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff, and community. In accordance with new recommendations issued by Governor Baker, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the White House, and the Massachusetts Dental Society, we have made the difficult decision to close our practice until May 18, 2020. We believe that this closure will allow us to more effectively adhere to Governor Baker’s recommendations and the CDC’s guidance to maintain social distancing.

Our office will be closely reviewing our appointment schedule. If you have a non-urgent appointment scheduled with us this week, we will be in touch to help reschedule your appointment.

Dr. Karl is on-call in the event of a dental emergency. Should you require emergency dental care, please call our office as you normally would at 978.373.0901 and we will contact you ASAP.

We did not make this decision lightly. A great deal of care, research, and planning guided our decision. We believe that by taking these extraordinary precautions, we can make a difference in helping to preserve the limited supply of personal protective equipment critical for emergency dental care and frontline health care personnel responding to the pandemic. We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine when it is appropriate for us to return to our normal business hours.

Sincerely,
Dr. Karl & Staff

Notice of Temporary Closure

Dear Patients:

Our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients, families, staff, and community. In accordance with new recommendations issued by Governor Baker, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the White House, and the Massachusetts Dental Society, we have made the difficult decision to close our practice until May 4, 2020. We believe that this closure will allow us to more effectively adhere to Governor Baker’s recommendations and the CDC’s guidance to maintain social distancing.

As health care professionals, we believe we have a role to play in “flattening the curve” in order to follow sound, scientific public health advice to help limit infections and slow the spread of the virus.

We will continue to evaluate the situation as it evolves and determine when it is appropriate for us to return to our normal business hours.

To all of our valued patients,

In an effort to support national efforts to fight the COVID- 19 pandemic, our practice is taking the following steps to help assure your health and well-being and that of our community:

• We are following directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a way to limit patient and staff exposure to this virus.
• Your health, and the health of our dedicated staff, matters to us, so going forward we will suspend all non-emergency care for at least three weeks.
• Patients will be seen only for urgent and emergency dental needs.

We will contact you soon to reschedule routine hygiene appointments. If you are already scheduled for an urgent issue, we will contact you the day before your appointment to discuss your health status, health screening protocols and confirm whether the appointment should be kept. Of course, please call us right away if you have a dental emergency or need immediate care.

The safety and well-being of our patients continues to be our primary concern. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 nationally and within our community and keep you up-to-date regarding our plans to reopen for business as usual.

I urge you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We can be reached by phone at 978.373.0901 and will respond as soon as we can.

We are also exploring the possibility of telemedicine in triaging certain dental issues.

Thank you,

Dr. Karl & Staff

The Massachusetts Dental Society released a recommendation on 15 March as follows:

“As the facts and situation around coronavirus and COVID-19 continue to evolve, and in step with Governor Baker’s recent Declaration of a State of Emergency, the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) Executive Committee and Board of Trustees is issuing the following guidance for dentists in Massachusetts.
The MDS strongly recommends that dentists practicing in the Commonwealth close their offices from March 17 to April 6 to patients seeking elective and non-urgent care. As always, it is expected that dentists will continue to be available as needed for emergency management.”

We are in the process of rescheduling our patients with the possibility that the 6 April deadline will be further extended.

Dr. Karl will be available for certain emergency treatment, and he can be reached by calling our office at 978.373.0901.

Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented chapter in our lives.

Dear Patients:
Dr. Arakelian received the following email from the MDS. The Mass Dental Society strongly recommends that dentists practicing in the Commonwealth close their offices from March 17 to April 6 to patients seeking elective and non-urgent care. As always, it is expected that dentists will continue to be available as needed for emergency management. This is not guidance we are issuing lightly, and it is being done out of an abundance of caution during these turbulent times. As health care professionals, we all have a role to play in slowing the spread of the coronavirus and flattening the curve in order to follow sound scientific, public health advice, help limit infections, and slow the spread of the virus.
