10 years ago vs now. It’s fun to watch patients grow up. Especially when that involves fewer ninja punches. I’ve been given the honor of taking care of this guy for the past decade plus a few more years. He will be the one picking me up in another 10 years.

“Dr. Brad, what are you looking at?”

“Oh, just the silent majesty of a winter's morn; the clean, cool chill of the holiday air; and a man in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer.”

Just a reminder, our office will be closed until Monday, December 29th to allow our team quality time with their loved ones. Merry Christmas from all of us at Keener Dentistry

Why did the Christmas tree go to the dentist?

It needed a root canal.

My wife has been reading a book called "Ozark Magic and Folklore" by Vance Randolph. It was originally published in 1947 and has all sorts of old wive's tales in it. I've heard a lot of them growing up in this area but there are a lot of new ones to me. Well yesterday she came upon the section about curing toothaches and thought I would share it with you.

"Another way to cure a toothache is to find the skeleton of a horse or mule. Be sure that nobody is watching you. Pick up the jawbone with your teeth and walk backward nine steps, being careful not to touch the thing with your hands, and then let it fall to the ground. This done, walk away without looking back, and do not mention the matter to anybody. If the pain doesn't stop within 30 minutes or so, it means that somebody did see you with the mule's jaw in your mouth. In that case, the only thing you can do is to hunt up another skeleton and go through the whole business again."

I'm still not sure how to process that paragraph. What are some of your favorite bits of folklore?

BREAKING NEWS

During a routine checkup at Keener Dentistry in Harrison, Arkansas, an 11-year-old boy bravely endured his fluoride treatment and was rewarded with a toy from the office’s prize box. His father handed him a neon green sticky hand, and the pair sat proudly in the waiting room, both smiling beneath their Phillies ballcaps.

Moments later, a woman also dressed in Phillies apparel approached the man and appeared to shout at him. Witnesses say the man then took the sticky hand from his son’s grasp and handed it over to the woman, who stuffed it in her pocket before striding triumphantly out of the office.

The boy was visibly upset, but the story didn’t end there. Later in the afternoon, a member of the Keener Dentistry staff presented the child with a special prize pack that included a bouncy ball, two dinosaur erasers, and a glow-in-the-dark toothbrush.

And in a heartwarming coda, Dr. Brad Keener himself met with the boy outside the operatory, gifting him a signed toothbrush and assuring him: “Around here, we play fair — and we always floss.”

Don't worry. We listen to our customers and what they want.

In unrelated news, we are attempting to source a barrel, rocking chair, and old man to sit on the front porch. Old man must be mildly grumpy. Not a lot, but definitely a little bit. Like he would definitely change your flat tire for you, but would also lecture you on how you should have been rotating your tires on a more regular basis and this wouldn't have happened. Know what we mean?
