A New Chapter for Our Dental Family
After nearly 30 years of caring for generations of families in our community, we have some very special news to share.
In 1997, Dr. Banks opened the doors to Banks Family Dentistry with the goal of providing exceptional dental care while building lasting relationships with his patients. For almost three decades, he has had the privilege of watching families grow, welcoming new generations into the practice, and becoming a small part of so many of your lives.
Now, it’s time for a new chapter.
We are excited to announce that Dr. Ting Tiedemann has purchased the practice, and we will officially become Freedom Family Dental!
Dr. Tiedemann graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2023 and has been practicing dentistry since then. She brings a unique perspective to dentistry, having worked as a dental hygienist for several years before becoming a dentist. Her background in dental hygiene, chemistry and biochemistry gives her a wonderful foundation for providing thoughtful, comprehensive care to her patients.
And we think you’ll enjoy getting to know her outside of the office, too! Dr. Tiedemann is married to Robert, a retired Navy veteran, and they have three daughters: 7-year-old MaryKate and 17-month-old identical twins, Emma and Elsa.
As for Dr. Banks, this isn’t quite goodbye! He will be semi-retiring and will continue teaching dental students at UAB, while also enjoying something he’s very excited about—more time with his family and his new grandbaby.
Dr. Banks will continue working through the end of the year as we make this transition, helping ensure a smooth change for our patients, our team, and Dr. Tiedemann.
We are incredibly grateful for all of the patients who have trusted Dr. Banks and our team since 1997. Your support, loyalty, friendships and the memories we’ve made over the years mean more than we could ever put into words.
While the name on the door is changing from Banks Family Dentistry to Freedom Family Dental, our commitment to taking care of our patients remains the same.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Tiedemann and Freedom Family Dental to our community, and in wishing Dr. Banks all the best as he begins this exciting new chapter.
