No pain doesn’t always mean no problem.

Some dental issues can develop quietly without causing any noticeable symptoms. By the time you feel pain, the problem may already be more advanced.

Some examples include:

🦷 Cavities — especially small or early cavities

🦷 Gum disease — which can progress without pain or obvious symptoms

🦷 Cracked teeth — some cracks cause little or no discomfort

🦷 Tooth infections — an infection can sometimes exist before pain develops

🦷 Worn or damaged fillings — problems around an old filling may not hurt right away

🦷 Bone loss — often associated with advanced gum disease and not something you can feel yourself

That’s why regular dental exams are so important. Your dentist can identify problems you may not be able to see or feel and recommend treatment before they become bigger concerns.

Most people come in for the cleaning. And yes, that is important!

We’re also measuring gum pockets, reading your X-rays, checking your soft tissue, evaluating your bite, and looking for small changes, like a crack, before they become painful problems.

Oral cancer screening is part of that too, and it takes about 90 seconds. Early changes are often silent, which is why looking carefully matters.
