You may have heard the term 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭 𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - but what exactly does that mean?

Phase 1 is 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝘅 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵. It’s typically recommended when there’s a specific issue that may benefit from being addressed while your child is still growing.

The goal isn’t necessarily to straighten every tooth right away. Depending on your child’s needs, Phase 1 treatment may help guide jaw growth, create room for incoming permanent teeth, or address certain bite concerns early.

It’s one of the most common questions parents have - and sometimes the signs are easier to spot than you might think.
