Every year about one thousand children drown in the US because they did not know how to swim and naturally a lot of those accidents happen in the summer. There are plenty of places in our town, our county, where a child can learn how to swim and this is an invaluable skill. Greenville County's Aquatic Center only charges 59.00 per lesson and that's nothing compared to the agony of a child drowning because they couldn't swim.

Recently one of my teenager patients dropped this doozy on me. I asked him if he flossed, because I already knew the answer, which was No. But I asked anyway.
"Yes" he answered. "Religiously."
I looked at him with more than a hint of suspicion. He responded:
"Every Christmas and Easter."
I had to laugh...but seriously. Flossing twice a year is a terrible idea, and going to church, well that's also something that should be done with conviction. Would you agree?

"My kids love Dr Muncy....sure he is wide open, dresses wild, kooky jokes, but that's what they like about him. They have only been to him as their dentist.....and I never have a hard getting them to go....they actually look forward to it. I have never had a problem with him not explaining what he is doing and always open to any questions I have about dental care to either of my boys."

I sure hope this trend dies quickly. Parents, if your young ones want something like this feel free to say "Only if Doctor Muncy agrees." Because I won't.
