The most common question at a first consultation: how long is this going to take? ⏱️ The honest answer is that it depends. Mild spacing or crowding cases can be resolved in as little as 6 to 12 months. More complex bite corrections or severe crowding can take 18 to 30 months. What actually makes the biggest difference in treatment time? Keeping your appointments. Wearing your elastics or aligners as directed. And not breaking brackets. The best thing you can do is start. The time passes either way.

What if you could straighten your teeth and nobody at work knew you were doing it? That is the appeal of clear aligners. Nearly invisible, removable trays that gradually shift your teeth into place without a single wire or bracket. They are not right for every case, but for mild to moderate crowding and spacing issues, they are an incredibly effective option that fits into real adult life. Wondering if you are a candidate? Come in for a consultation and we will give you an honest answer.

Raise your hand if you had braces, got a retainer, and then stopped wearing it. 🙋😬

Your teeth probably shifted. You probably noticed. And you probably spent some time feeling guilty about it. Here is the good news: in many cases, minor relapse can be corrected with a new retainer or a short course of retreatment. You have not necessarily undone everything. Come in, let us take a look, and we will be straight with you about where things stand and what your options are. No judgment. This happens all the time!

An open bite is when your upper and lower front teeth do not touch when your back teeth are closed. That gap means your front teeth cannot do their job, which is biting into food. It can make eating certain things genuinely difficult and can affect speech, particularly sounds that require the tongue to touch the front teeth. Open bites are often linked to habits like thumb sucking or tongue thrusting in childhood. They respond well to orthodontic treatment, especially when caught before jaw growth is complete.

Frequently asked questions we love getting: "Does it hurt?"

The first few days after an adjustment can be tender. It passes quickly. "Will I be able to eat normally?" With braces, mostly yes with a few exceptions. With aligners, completely. "How often do I come in?" Typically every 6 to 10 weeks. "Can I still play sports?" Yes. We recommend a mouthguard. "Is my case too complicated?" Let us be the judge of that. Most people are surprised by how treatable their situation is. Bring your questions to your next appointment. We have heard them all.

What separates a good orthodontic outcome from a great one? A treatment plan that addresses your bite, not just the appearance of your teeth. A team that communicates clearly at every appointment. Consistent follow-through on your end with elastics, hygiene, and wear time. And a retainer you actually wear when treatment is done. The result is not just a straight smile. It is a stable, healthy, functional bite that lasts for life. That is the standard we hold ourselves to with every patient.

Fun fact: almost everyone has some degree of overbite. A small one is totally normal. But a deep overbite, where your upper front teeth significantly overlap your lower teeth, is something that absolutely can and should be treated. Deep overbites put excessive pressure on your front teeth, can cause jaw pain over time, and affect the overall aesthetics of your smile. The good news is that overbite correction is one of the most common and well-treated conditions in orthodontics.
