🦷🦸‍♂️ A Visit to Allendale Elementary! 🦸‍♂️🦷

Dr. Nelson recently spent some time at Allendale Elementary School visiting Mr. Kelley’s class. Dr Nelson talked about what its like being a superhero… I mean dentist! 😄

He taught the students how dentists help protect smiles and shared an eye-opening lesson about sugar in popular drinks like:
🥤 Sodas
🧃 Fruit drinks
⚡ Gatorade
🚀 Energy drinks

💡 Did you know?

The daily recommended amount of sugar for kids is equivalent to about 6 sugar cubes. For adults, it’s about 12 sugar cubes.

😲 Many of the drinks listed above contain the equivalent of 10 sugar cubes or more in just ONE drink!

Today we are thrilled to feature the friendly face you see as soon as you walk in the door, the incredible Shawney.

In her own words:

“I grew up in a small country town in Northeast Texas, surrounded by dirt roads lined with honeysuckle, fields of wildflowers and lightening bugs, and the occasional tornado. When I’m not at work, I’m usually outside dispersed camping, hiking, or taking my paddle board out on the river any chance I get. I especially love going to the coast as often as possible. I also enjoy hobbies like reading and embroidering, which help me relax and stay creative. One of my biggest passions is mushroom hunting, and I love the thrill of exploring nature to find them.

I’m also a huge cat lover and currently have three cats—Temu, Wish, and Masara. Masara is actually my best friend’s cat that I’m fostering for the time being, and they all keep life entertaining and full of personality. One of my biggest dreams is to eventually own a small business, ideally something that involves helping cats. I would love to potentially combine that with another business where people can shop local and support animal care at the same time.

I’ve been at C Street Dental for four years, and my favorite part about being here is the people. We’re not just coworkers—we truly feel like a small family. Everyone genuinely cares about and supports one another, which makes it an amazing, low-stress environment. That same care and compassion naturally extend to our patients, helping create a welcoming and comfortable experience for everyone who walks through our doors.”
