Introducing:

Kyle Hammer DDS

Dr. Hammer has been practicing dentistry for 13 years. He partnered with Dr. Rostvold in 2024 to expand the Port City Dental family by welcoming West Range Dental into its multi-clinic network. Dr. Hammer says, "what I enjoy most about multi-clinic ownership is the opportunity to work alongside wonderful people, build great teams, and provide a trusted dental home for the communities we serve across Northern Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. Through it all, I've learned to trust the process, keep our patients and team at the center of every decision, and always have a positive attitude."

Shilo Hilger DDS

Dr. Hilger has been with West Range Dental just over a year. He is originally a farm kid from Nebraska and has been a dentist for nearly 25 years. He received both undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Hilger completed his General Practice residency at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Prior to coming to Grand Rapids, he worked in southeast Iowa for 15 years. Dr. Hilger says, "do you know that some slugs have over 700,000 teeth over their short lifetimes? It is fascinating. And yet, we are supposed to make 52 last a hundred-odd years. I guess that means we should take better care of them..."

James Rostvold DDS

Doctor Rostvold has been providing care in the community for 43 years. He received an excellent education from the University of Minnesota for Dentistry. Doctor Rostvold says, "It has been a rewarding career serving the community for 43 years. I have loved being able to live, work, and provide for my family here in Grand Rapids. It truly does not get any better. I am very grateful every day."

Dara ~ Licensed Dental Assistant

Dara has been with West Range Dental for 4 years now. She has been a dental assistant for many years, starting out at a smaller office, where she dedicated 26 years! Dara says, "the best part of working here is definitely our team. I couldn't ask for a better group of smiles to share my day with." When not at work, you can find Dara enjoying the sunshine outdoors with her husband, or spoiling her pets Trouble and Earl.

Izze ~ Sterile Technician Intern

Izze has been with West Range Dental since the beginning of the summer. She is a student at Lake Superior College, taking her prerequisites for the dental hygiene program. When not at work, you can find Izze enjoying the sun on Pokegama Lake.

Holly ~ Licensed Dental Assistant

Holly has 27 years of experience as a Licensed Dental Assistant and serves as our Clinical Lead Assistant. After spending 14 years with West Range, Holly relocated to Thief River Falls, where she continued her career while raising her daughter. She recently returned to the Grand Rapids area and is excited to continue serving the community she calls home! Holly says, "one of the most rewarding parts of my career has been witnessing the incredible advances in dental technology, materials, and techniques." Holly's philosophy is "Take care of the patient in front of you, help the teammate beside you, and the rest will work itself out." When not at work you can find her gardening or spending time outdoors; making the most of Minnesota's beautiful seasons.

Trish ~ Licensed Dental Hygienist

Trish has been with West Range Dental since September 2025. She was a dental assistant for 5 years before attending WVU for dental hygiene. Trish has been a registered dental hygienist for nearly 20 years! This career has taken her from Florida, San Diego, Germany, Italy, and back home to Minnesota. Trish says, "I enjoy connecting with patients to empower them about the importance of maintaining daily oral hygiene, and the impact it has on their overall health." When not at work, you can find Trish on Leech Lake, her farm, or jet setting across the world!

Ally ~ Patient Care Coordinator/Financial Coordinator

Ally is new to the dental world, starting at West Range Dental in March 2026. While new to dental, Ally has been in care coordination several years. She says, "I am learning all kinds of valuable information; especially important is the role your dental health plays in your overall health and well-being!" When not at work you can find Ally at the lake with her family or whipping up something delicious in the kitchen.
