This year for Karl Orthodontics' pumpkin decorating contest we submitted a Sugar Skull! On this Dia De Los Mu***os we though it would be fun to share some facts about Sugar Skulls!

🩷Sugar skulls are bright and festive, symbolizing the continuation of life and love after death.
🧡They are made to honor and remember deceased family members and friends, and are a central part of the ofrenda altar.
💛Traditionally made of sugar, they are intended to be a temporary, edible offering. If they are placed in a cemetery, they will be washed away by rain or eaten by ants, symbolizing the cyclical nature of life.
💚They are a sweet and symbolic representation of the soul's journey.
🩵The skulls are decorated with colorful icing, feathers, and foil, with different colors sometimes carrying specific meanings.
