We discovered products this last year, and it’s safe to say we’ve become obsessed with recommending them, especially their products for kids.

They have toothpastes specially formulated for every stage of your child’s development, making it easier to support healthy oral habits from the very beginning.

One of the things we love most is that their products are designed with both parents and kids in mind. Great ingredients, age-appropriate formulas, and flavors kids actually enjoy can make brushing feel a lot less like a battle.

As dentists, we’re always looking for ways to help families make oral health a little easier at home, and this has been one of our favorite finds.

It’s like Friday the 13th over and over. Let’s talk about it:

1. TikTok dental hacks: We won’t write them all off as false, but there is plenty of misinformation out there. PLEASE check with your provider before trying anything you see online. You do not want to destroy your enamel / mess with your oral microbiome / etc.

2. ….need we say more? The tooth gems and things are cute, please don’t do them at home with some nail glue and a dream.

3. Fluoride-free toothpaste. We know there is A LOT of info around this. Based on all current and reputable data, there is nothing that suggests the small amount of fluoride found in toothpaste will create damage, and there is plenty of evidence that shows how much it helps your teeth. We recommend SUPERMOUTH toothpaste as it has both hydroxyapatite and fluoride.

4. Lemons are yummy. Lemon water? Refreshing. Eating lemons like it’s an apple? Fast track to eroding your enamel. Be mindful of acidity!

5. Hate to have to say this, but brushing with your finger and some toothpaste is no where close to what an actual toothbrush will do. Pls just use the toothbrush!

Insurance should never be the thing that determines whether someone gets to take care of their health.

We know dental insurance can feel confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming sometimes.

At RMD, our goal is never to pressure people, it’s to help them understand their options and make care feel more accessible and less intimidating.

Whether you have insurance, don’t have insurance, haven’t been to the dentist in years, or just have questions about cost… we’ll walk through things with you honestly and judgment-free.

We also offer membership options for patients without traditional insurance so preventative care and treatment can feel a little more manageable for families and individuals in our community (find info on our highlight tabs!

As a dentist, these are a few things I personally wouldn’t keep around my house 👀

1. Alcohol-based mouthwash. A lot of them can be super harsh and drying, especially if used constantly. Fresh breath is great… but nuking your mouth microbiome every day? Not always the vibe.

2. Hard bristled toothbrushes. Most people brush way harder than they think they do already. Add hard bristles and you can end up irritating your gums and wearing down enamel over time. Soft bristles > always.

3. Toothbrushes sitting uncovered right next to the toilet. Listen… I know this one is gross 😂 but flushing toilets can aerosolize bacteria into the air. At minimum, keep a little distance if you can.

4. Constant gummy snacks for kids. Sticky snacks love hanging out in the grooves of teeth, which gives cavity-causing bacteria more time to do their thing. It’s not about perfection (we get sometimes the quick snack is necessary) just balance and awareness.

5. Ignoring mouth breathing. This one is BIG. Chronic mouth breathing can contribute to dry mouth, bad breath, higher cavity risk, grinding, and even changes in facial development in kids over time.

At the end of the day, oral health is way more connected to your overall health than most people realize.
