This patient came in for a consultation to discuss what she liked, what she didn’t, and how she ultimately wanted her smile to feel and look.

Before any treatment begins, we take the time to gather detailed digital records; including photographs and digital impressions, so we can carefully analyze the smile, facial proportions, bite, and overall esthetics. These details help us create a treatment plan that is personalized, thoughtful, and built around the patient’s goals.

She came to me after years of orthodontics (referred by her surgeon), born without her upper two lateral incisors, ready to finally close the gaps she’d been hiding her whole life.
▪️
We took our time:
- KOR whitening to set the foundation
- Implants placed where teeth never grew in
- Custom-shaped temporaries to coax the gum tissue into perfect symmetry
- Direct resin artistry on the upper central incisors to rebalance the proportions
- Custom titanium + zirconia abutments and porcelain crowns to finish
- ▪️
These photos? The top is the day she walked in.

Bottom is five years later.
▪️
Today she’s a young professional in the city, living her best life: laughing louder, photographed more, hiding nothing.
▪️

Terra Incognita, indeed. Spent the day with Jan Streblov at Medinah Country Club exploring autotransplantation of teeth: one of the most underutilized procedures in modern dentistry. Moving a patient’s own tooth to replace one that’s been lost: biological & elegant.

She flew in from Florida for just four teeth.
▪️
Her concern wasn’t a “Hollywood smile.”
She simply didn’t like how her two front teeth hung lower than the rest of her smile, and with her son’s wedding approaching, she wanted to feel confident in photos.
Sometimes the smallest details are the ones people notice most.
▪️
After a detailed consultation, we focused on creating balance rather than change.
Treatment plan:
• Gum lift to create symmetry in the gumline
• 2 porcelain veneers
• 2 porcelain crowns
By carefully adjusting the proportions and blending the upper four front teeth, we were able to create a result that feels natural, harmonious, and uniquely hers.

Today would have been my dad’s birthday.
▪️
It’s been five years since cancer took him from us, but the impact he had on my life is something time can never take away.
▪️
He showed me what resilience looks like, how to treat people with kindness, and how important family truly is. The older I get, the more I understand just how much of who I am comes from him.
▪️
Moments like this photo, seeing him with his grandson, remind me that love and influence continue long after someone is gone.
▪️

When a patient says, “I know exactly what I want,” I listen closely.
▪️
She came to us after being referred by her general dentist, wanting to replace the four upper front crowns that never quite felt like her. The shape felt too round… too “bubbly.” She had a very clear vision for the value, color, and overall character of her smile.
▪️
Cases like this are all about communication.
Between patient, dentist, and ceramist.
▪️
Before replacing the crowns, we completed KoR whitening to brighten her natural teeth so the new restorations could blend seamlessly. From there, it was an ongoing dialogue with a master ceramist; refining shape, surface texture, and color until everything felt balanced, natural, and uniquely hers.
▪️
When she saw the final result, she was ecstatic. And those moments, when someone finally sees the smile they’ve been envisioning, are what make the details worth it.
Because great dentistry isn’t just about replacing teeth. It’s about listening carefully enough to create something that truly fits the person behind the smile.

This sweet soul reminds me so much of my adopted grandmother: gentle, patient, full of warmth, and always bringing a smile into the room before we even begin.

Moments like this are why I love what I do. Dentistry isn’t just about teeth. It’s about people. It’s about trust. It’s about caring for someone the same way you would care for your own family.

Taking care of her is never “just an appointment.” It’s a privilege.

Fourteen years.

Every time I walk into the AARD meeting, I’m reminded why I fell in love with dentistry in the first place.
▪️
The level of thought.
The precision.
The accountability.
The commitment to doing things the right way, not the easy way.
▪️
The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry is a room full of clinicians who hold themselves to the highest possible standard. Not for recognition. Not for ego. But for their patients.
▪️
I’ve been fortunate to attend for over 14 years, and I never take that for granted. Each year I leave sharper, more inspired, and more grounded in what excellence truly looks like.
▪️
And none of this journey would be possible without mentorship. Dennis has helped guide me through this path, pushing me to think deeper, work harder, and elevate my standards beyond what I thought was possible. That kind of mentorship changes a career.
