Removing a with the dental laser. I wanted to preserve as much of the old veneer as possible for backup shade matching and this absolutely paid off. The laser was also used to gently trough the gums to expose the margins for scanning. The digital impression was taken with the cerec and a biocopy version of the old veneer was fabricated, since i did not want to change the shape of the old veneer much. Within a little more than an hour this dine gentleman’s new veneer was ready and in place.

Forget the mercury issue. I have yet to remove an amalgam that has no damage inside the tooth, whether recurrent decay, cracks or corrosion. The physical properties of this unstable alloy are incompatible with those of a living tooth. Expansion coefficient, thermal and electric conductivity, corrosion and marginal breakdown. The only reason why they last that long while the tooth around it slowly deteriorates, is because they are wedged into an undercut. It is a material that was invented at the same time that leaches and bloodletting were part of medicine.

Today I am showcasing an interesting case of a lady who was missing a Central incisor and had an old-fashioned metal-based Maryland cantilever Bridge. I removed the bridge and proceeded with surgical placement of a zirconia metal-free SDS Implant. I followed up by providing her with one of my favorite provisionals, a bonded fiberglass/composite Maryland bridge, which has the dual purpose of protecting the tissue-level implant and providing excellent aesthetics.
The tooth will be restored in five months.

Today, our little patients are learning how to use a miswak root, a natural teeth-cleaning stick that has been used for generations. When used properly, miswak can help clean teeth, massage the gums, and introduce children to mindful oral hygiene in a fun, hands-on way.

While it isn’t a replacement for proper brushing and flossing, we love teaching families about natural tools that can complement a healthy oral care routine.
