🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️The Opal Family Dental team had a fantastic time participating in the Newlin Grist Mill 5K today! 🎉

We loved being part of this wonderful community event, supporting healthy lifestyles, and enjoying a beautiful day outdoors with friends, families, and neighbors.

We spent the morning chasing finish lines instead of cavities—and we’re happy to report that everyone survived the 3.1 miles without needing an emergency dental appointment. We crossed the finish line with all our teeth, plenty of laughs, and a no for ice packs. 😂

A big congratulations to everyone who ran, walked, and volunteered. Thank you for making it such a great event! We’re proud to serve this amazing community both inside and outside the dental office. 💙

Here’s a dental lesson to brighten your day!

Teeth are composed of various parts and layers, but there are three main ones that you should know about:

First is the enamel. This is the hard outer part of your pearly whites ;)

Underneath the enamel is another layer called dentin. When your enamel wears down, it exposes the dentin. This can cause extreme sensitivity to cold and hot temperatures.

Within the tooth itself is a softer material called pulp. Pulp is made up of nerves and blood vessels.
