Furniss Family Dentistry was previously known as Bishop Dental. Bishop has served the good people of Gilmer (and surrounding areas) for over 40 years. In recent years Dr. Bishop began thinking about reducing his workload and transitioning to retirement. He wanted to find someone with a gentle touch; with ideals, ethics, and dental skills similar to his own. During this time, Dr. Furniss was practi

cing in rural Idaho and had begun searching for "The Perfect Dental Practice" as well as a wonderful community in which to raise his family. Furniss and Bishop were introduced to one another and a great friendship had begun. Dr. Bishop has carefully selected Dr. Furniss as the right man to carry on his legacy of taking wonderful care of his patients. Dr. Furniss is very excited to follow in Dr. Bishop's footsteps and serve the wonderful people of East Texas! Our team of hygienists, assistants, and front office staff are fantastic and we are currently welcoming new patients to our office! Dr. Bishop will continue to be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Dr. Furniss is available Mon-Thurs as well as select Friday hours. Come on in and meet the new doctor!

As we reflect on this past year, our hearts are full. We are deeply grateful for 10 years of serving the incredible people of Gilmer, for trusting us with your smiles 😁, for supporting our small business, and for becoming so much more than patients… you’ve become friends and family. Your loyalty, kindness, and encouragement truly mean the world to us. 🌟
