👌🏽Zero judgement, we get it, but we thought it was worth sharing.
🩸While bleeding gums can also be caused by things like just starting the flossing habit, snapping the floss into the gums, or even medical, medication, and lifestyle factors, it is more often than not caused by not flossing regularly or flossing incorrectly (yes, even in children).
😖Bacterial plaque builds up in the areas between the teeth and under the gums where your toothbrush doesn’t reach, leading to an inflammatory response we call gingivitis, or inflammation of the gums, which includes bleeding when flossing and brushing, and with your dental cleanings.
➰The good news is, that as long as the inflammation is limited to your gums, it is reversible with a daily habit of flossing.
😊New habits are hard to stick to, but once you start and you realize how good your teeth and gums feel, you won’t want to stop.
🪞If you’re already flossing and your gums are still bleeding, be sure to ask your dental hygienist to review your technique and show you how to floss correctly to maximize the benefit.
💪🏼Build the habit, reap the results. You got this!
