You are probably damaging your teeth without realizing it — the sweet treats we love can also feed the bacteria in our mouths, creating acids that attack enamel and lead to cavities. Some of the biggest troublemakers are sticky candies, caramel, gummies, soda, sports drinks, sweet tea, and even sipping sugary coffee drinks all day because sugar stays on your teeth longer. After enjoying something sweet, rinse with water, wait about 30 minutes before brushing (especially after acidic drinks), brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss every day, and keep up with regular dental checkups to help protect your smile.

Spreading infection, preventing abscesses before they become symptomatic, and improving daily eating habits are among the most common benefits we see every day! Check-ups go beyond the dental office, so we continue to provide oral health education to all our patients to support them from head to toe and address any areas that need improvement. Monitoring habits that affect health are essential to a person’s overall well-being.
