As a young boy, I knew- without a doubt- that I wanted to be an orthodontist. The career inspiration originated from my own experience as an orthodontic patient in Washington, D.C. I was born in D.C. and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. As the youngest of four children, my turn for braces came after my two sisters and brother concluded their orthodontic treatment. Shortly after I began treatmen
t, I recognized that orthodontics is a very special profession. The marriage of the technical with the artistic fascinated me. My treatment concluded with straight teeth and strong inspiration for a fulfilling career. My journey to become an orthodontist began with four years at the College Park Campus of the University of Maryland, where I earned a B.S. Next, I completed four years of study and clinical practice to receive a D.D.S. degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry. My ultimate dream still strong, I embarked on two additional years of specialty graduate training in orthodontics, culminating in an M.S. degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics. I established my orthodontic practice in Gaithersburg in 1987 at the Montgomery Village Professional Center. I later moved my practice to its current location on Russell Avenue. I have cared for thousands of area children and adults for over 25 years. It is a great honor when former patients, now adults, bring their own children to my practice for orthodontic care! Orthodontics has modernized tremendously since I was a boy. Far more treatment options exist for my patients than were available to me as a patient many years ago. Ongoing participation in continuing education permits me to bring the best orthodontic concepts and materials to my patients. I am one of the founding and managing members of the Mid-County Dental Society, which meets about half a dozen times each year for the sole purpose of gathering area dentists and specialists together for additional study and exposure to dental topics of importance and interest. Orthodontic care in my practice is always custom tailored to each patientβs needs and desires. With an array of hand selected materials and methods, I develop and implement the treatment plan appropriate for each patient. My professional memberships include:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Maryland State Society of Orthodontists
- Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontists
- American Dental Association
-Maryland State Dental Association
- Southern Maryland Dental Society
I am licensed by the Dental Boards of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. My wife and I have three children, one daughter and two sons. I enjoy strength and endurance training. My sons and I keep fit together with Tae Kwon Do.
