Join us in supporting movement, confidence, and community!

The Össur + CAF Running and Mobility Clinic is coming to Orlando, FL on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the UCF Nicholson Indoor Fieldhouse.

This free clinic is open to individuals with lower-limb loss or limb difference who use a prosthesis for mobility. Participants will have the opportunity to learn practical ways to move better, improve balance and coordination, and connect with others in a supportive adaptive sports environment.

Why is it sometimes so hard to get a prosthetic leg on correctly?

For many prosthetic users, the most frustrating part of the day is not always walking. Sometimes, it starts before that — trying to get the residual limb seated properly in the socket, making sure the pin lines up, and feeling confident that the prosthesis is secure before taking the first step.

When the limb does not sit correctly inside the socket, the prosthesis may feel uncomfortable, unstable, difficult to lock in, or simply “off.” Even small alignment issues can affect how the leg feels during standing, walking, transfers, and daily movement.

This is where suspension and alignment systems matter. A lanyard socket system is one option that may help guide the limb into the socket more consistently and support better socket and pin alignment. For the right patient, this can make donning easier, reduce frustration, and create a more predictable fit.

However, no suspension system is one-size-fits-all. The best option depends on the patient’s limb shape, skin condition, strength, mobility level, activity goals, and current socket design. A prosthetist can evaluate what is causing the issue and recommend the most appropriate solution.

If your prosthesis feels hard to put on, difficult to lock in, uncomfortable, or inconsistent throughout the day, it may be time for a fit and alignment check.

At Gainesville Prosthetics, we look beyond the device. We evaluate socket fit, suspension, alignment, gait, and daily function so patients can move with more confidence.

In observance of Memorial Day, Gainesville Prosthetics will be closed as we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Today is more than a long weekend. It is a time to remember the courage, service, and legacy of those who gave everything so others could live in freedom.

From all of us at Gainesville Prosthetics, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes and their families.

May we carry their memory with respect, humility, and appreciation.
