This is a beautiful step towards even better patient outcomes!
Lasers: A Historic Day for Florida Dental Hygiene!
Today was a HUGE day for dental hygiene in Florida! The Florida Board of Dentistry heard the proposal to expand the scope of practice for dental hygienists to include the use of lasers for periodontal therapy and it PASSED!
This is a significant step forward for our profession and, most importantly, for patient care.
With this approval, the use of lasers for periodontal therapy will now move onto rules and the course curriculum will be created to establish the education and training needed for dental hygienists to provide this therapy.
A special thank you to Karyn Hill and Angela Johnson for representing Florida’s dental hygienists and being there to advocate for our profession during this important moment. Your dedication and commitment are helping move dental hygiene forward in Florida!
Thank you to the Florida Dental Association (FDA) for supporting this important initiative and recognizing the value of advancing care for our patients.
This milestone represents the hard work of so many who have advocated, educated, collaborated, and continued to push our profession forward.
Today, we celebrate the progress. Tomorrow, we keep moving forward.
Florida dental hygiene is making history!
