🦷 Why does age 7 matter for your child’s smile?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7, and no, that doesn’t mean every 7-year-old needs braces! 🙌
At this age, your child has a mix of baby and permanent teeth, giving an orthodontist a valuable look at how their teeth, bite, and jaws are developing.
Catching potential concerns early can allow us to:
✨ Monitor and guide jaw growth
🦷 Create space for incoming permanent teeth
😁 Identify crowding or bite issues
👍 Address habits that may affect development
⏰ Potentially make future treatment simpler and more efficient
Sometimes the best treatment at age 7 is simply keeping an eye on things and letting your child grow. The important part is knowing what’s happening early so we can recommend treatment at the right time.
Think it might be time for your child’s first orthodontic check? Progressive Orthodontics is here to help! 💙🧡
