I ask because one of the most common side effects of SO many prescriptions is dry mouth. And dry mouth doesn't just mean you feel thirsty. It means your saliva production drops, and saliva is what neutralizes the acid in your mouth, washes bacteria away, and helps remineralize your teeth.

Without enough saliva, your mouth turns acidic. And when your mouth is acidic, bad bacteria don't just survive — they THRIVE. They take over.

In my Frisco dental office, we take a saliva and biofilm sample on every patient, put it under a microscope, and you watch it on a screen. The bacteria are MOVING. Different shapes, different speeds, some high risk, some low risk.

Because now we're not just telling you your gums are bleeding and inflamed. We can SEE why. You can spot the difference between a busy slide, bacteria everywhere, and a calm one, and we explain what high risk vs low risk actually means for your health.

Your natural tooth is worth protecting. I mean that more than almost anything I say in the chair.

Here's something most people don't realize: enamel is the hardest substance in your entire body. Harder than bone. Nothing we build in a lab truly matches it.

So if you grind or clench hard enough to wear down your own enamel, the hardest material you've got, chances are you'll eventually chip or fracture something man-made too. A porcelain crown, as strong as it is, still isn't your tooth.

That's why I always look for the most conservative path first. The more of your natural tooth we preserve now, the more you'll have to work with later, when there will be even better options than we have today.

We're not here to lecture you about flossing at my Frisco dental office.

I tell patients all the time: we are your coaches. You have to do your part at home, but we're here to support you, help you figure out what's going on, and come up with a plan that actually works. This isn't a one-way thing where I hand you a list of instructions and send you off.

Coaching is different from fixing. We're not starting over from zero every time you come in. We remember what we talked about last time. We follow up. We continue the conversation. And when things improve, we CELEBRATE it with you. When they haven't, we look in a different direction instead of just repeating the same treatment.

If you've been putting off a dental visit because you think you're going to get a lecture, you won't. Not here.

Every morning before our first patient, our team sits down together. We go over the schedule. We look at who's coming in, what we talked about last time, & what we need to follow up on. If we had a conversation about your blood work three months ago, we're asking about it today. If your saliva pH was acidic last visit, we're checking to see if the changes you made helped.

And it takes a team that's paying attention to YOU as a person, not just your chart.

Let me tell you what "conservative dentistry" actually means to me.

It's simple: it's how *I* would want to be treated.

People think conservative care means doing nothing, just watching and waiting. That's not it at all.

It means getting you the result you want while protecting as much of your natural tooth as possible. So instead of grinding down a healthy tooth, maybe I move it into a better position first, then do a thin composite or porcelain veneer, adding to your tooth instead of cutting it away.

Same beautiful result. Way less of your natural tooth sacrificed to get there.

Because I'm not just thinking about how your smile looks today, but how it serves you 20, 30 years from now. The more of your own tooth we keep, the more we have to work with later.

I kept having the same visits with patients in my Frisco dental office. Patients would sit down in my chair and their gums would be bleeding. We could effectively treat them and reset them at their visits but then when they returned in 4-6 months we would see the same thing.

Same treatment, same conversation, same result. Time and time again.

And at some point I just thought, there HAS to be something more. I can't keep doing the same thing every visit and expecting a different outcome. That's not what I got into dentistry for. I don't want to just treat what I see. I want to know WHY it's there. I want to help improve things and really make a change in patients’ health and lives.

So we started asking different questions. Not just, "Are you flossing?" but, "Have you had blood work done?" Not just, "Your gums are bleeding," but, "What's your A1C? What's your vitamin D? Are you breathing through your nose at night or are you a mouth breather ?”

We started looking at saliva, biofilm, nitric oxide levels and pH connecting things that nobody was connecting before.

Now when patients come in, we actually have DIFFERENT CONVERSATIONS. Things improve and we can see WHY. Or they don't improve, and now we know to look somewhere new instead of repeating the same cycle.
