I had the best experience from the moment I walked into the office of Precision Smiles. I came to the office because I have been a patient at another big box dentist office for over 10 years and I felt the last time I was seen that they were overly aggressive with their treatment plan. I was going to have to pay over $800 with the plan they had. Dr. Patel reviewed their plan and then came up with a more conservative plan that did not cost me $800. It was nice to know that I will not be shuffled around to different dentists and not have continuity of care. My last office could not even remember that I was in the office 6 months prior. I will be moving myself and my family to Dr. Patel. I also loved that I receive an awesome swag welcome kit. Dr. Patel and his staff are beyond five stars and I am so thankful to find a new home for oral health.

Update: After 7 years I still love Precison!!! I showed up a week early for my appointment and they made room in the schedule for me. Our family now participates with the annual plans Precision offers. It will save us a great deal not participating in dental insurance. I love having this choice. Thank you again Dr. Patel and your amazing staff.

Toothpaste FYI! Stay tuned for more helpful information from Dr. Patel!

More foam does not mean more cleaning.

Foam is mainly produced by surfactants such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS).

Their role is to spread toothpaste evenly and create that familiar “clean” sensation.

They do not mechanically remove dental biofilm.

Actual plaque removal depends on:

• Controlled mechanical movement of toothbrush bristles

• A full 2-minute brushing time

• Proper angulation along the gumline

• Mild abrasives that help disrupt biofilm and polish surface stains

• Fluoride that strengthens enamel and supports remineralization

Foam enhances perception.

Brushing technique determines effectiveness.

Excessive lather can create a false sense of completion — causing some people to stop too early, leaving biofilm along the gumline.

Clean teeth result from controlled mechanical disruption combined with protective chemistry — not from the amount of bubbles produced.

People often confuse tooth plaque and artery plaque because they share the same name — but they are biologically different.

Tooth plaque is a sticky bacterial biofilm that forms on teeth and leads to gum disease. Artery plaque, on the other hand, is a buildup of cholesterol, fat, calcium, and inflammatory cells inside blood vessel walls.

Although they are not the same substance, they are connected through inflammation and bacteria. Harmful oral bacteria from untreated plaque and gum disease can enter the bloodstream and trigger systemic inflammation. This inflammatory response is known to play a role in the development and destabilization of arterial plaques linked to heart attack and stroke.

Importantly, science does not say that tooth plaque turns into artery plaque. Instead, chronic gum inflammation acts as a long-term inflammatory burden on the body, which may accelerate atherosclerosis and increase cardiovascular risk.

What this means in daily life is simple: keeping plaque under control and maintaining healthy gums is not just about a clean smile. It may help reduce overall inflammatory stress in the body.

Brushing, flossing, and regular dental care are preventive habits that support whole-body health — not just oral health.
