🦷 5 Things You Can Do To Make Your Child’s Dental Visit Easier: 🦷

1. Start brushing their teeth as soon as they erupt regularly! Having a good daily oral health routine helps them to be comfortable having someone clean or examine their mouth.

2. Model good oral hygiene practices on your own mouth prior to attempting to do the same for them. Showing kids how to use floss in your mouth helps to make them feel more comfortable when it’s their turn.

3. Practice laying down to have them have their teeth “checked” similar to how you they lay down in the dental chair. This will make them feel safe when they are asked to lay in this position at the dental office!

4. Bring them in for the first checkup when the first tooth erupts or no later than their first birthday! Becoming familiar with the dental office early creates a positive relationship and helps to catch concerns early to prevent big problems in the future.

5. Read books or watch short videos about dental appointments to familiarize them with the dental office. Look at photos of the practice online to discuss steps they will take during their appointment to ease them into a new environment!
