Hello! Meet our team member Clayre!

Clayre is a dental assistant at Friendswood Smiles 😁 and currently studying for medical school—lots of hard work, big goals, and a little chaos in between. When she’s not doing that, she’s out fishing 🎣, hanging with her dog Hank 🐾, or making memories with friends.
Just trying to balance it all and enjoy the ride ✨

Say Hi to Clayre!

🦷🚨 When a Tooth Injury Happens — What Every Parent Should Know

Although we’ve treated many dental emergencies over the years, I felt compelled to share this post after seeing several kids with tooth injuries just within the past couple of weeks. These situations happen fast and knowing what to do can make all the difference in saving a tooth.

✅ If a permanent tooth gets knocked out:

• Find it right away, hold it by the white part (crown), not the root.

• Rinse gently with water if dirty (no scrubbing!).

• Try to place it back in the socket if possible.

• If not, store it in cold milk or your child’s saliva, never let it dry.

• Get to an emergency dentist within 30–60 minutes.

🍼 If it’s a baby tooth:

• Don’t try to put it back in — but still call your dentist to check for injury to other teeth or gums.

💥 If it’s chipped or broken:

• Save any fragments, rinse the mouth, and apply a cold compress for swelling.

• Call or text your dental office right away for guidance.

⏱️ Timing matters! The sooner a child is seen, the better the chances of saving the tooth and avoiding long-term damage.

📱 At Friendswood Smiles, we monitor text messages even after hours, so if an accident happens, text us immediately and we’ll guide you on what to do next.

🖼️ Note: Some of the patients in the attached photo are still in treatment to achieve their final aesthetic results, but you can already see the remarkable improvement made possible by early intervention. These emergencies can happen to adults too. Follow same advice!

Stay safe, protect those smiles, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need us! 😁
