Originally opened in 1975 by Dr. Thomas E. Dr. Schmidt is a native of Fredericksburg and he graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and from UT Health Science Center in Houston. After graduation from dental school, he served in the United States Air Force, where he attained additional training in all phases of dentistry. While getting his practice established here in Fredericksburg, he worked as an Assistant Professor in restorative dentistry at UT Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School. Dr. Schmidt still helps out occasionally, but is enjoying his partial retirement! Dr. Jay Lindsay joined the team in June of 2008. He attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He received his Master of Science in BioMedical Engineering from California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California. He attended UT Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School, and won many awards including being named Valedictorian of his graduating class. Dr. Gretchen Lochte Smith graduated in 2020 from UT Dental branch in Houston, Texas. She joined our dental team in June of 2020. She received her Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University in 2016. Dr. Smith is a Fredericksburg native and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 2012. Dr. Robert Poindexter graduated from Texas A&M University with BA in Zoology. He attended Baylor College of Dentistry where he graduated in 1984. He entered the United States Air Force and served as a general dentist throughout his military career. While in the Air Force, he received his AEGD II Residency. After retiring from the Air Force in 2005, Dr. Poindexter owned his own dental practice in Kerrville, Texas. He joined our Fredericksburg Dentistry Team in 2021 and continues to find passion in practicing dentistry.
