After graduating dental school in 1984 he completed additional training in a hospital based residency in Oklahoma City. He has taken many hours of continuing education courses including those in advanced cosmetic procedures and restorative dentistry. Dr. Hicks is also a graduate of the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
