Bleeding gums should not be considered normal, especially when it happens regularly during brushing or flossing. 🦷

Evaluation and treatment for gum inflammation and bleeding are now available as part of our Periodontics services at Essential Endodontics in Dallas and Mansfield.

Redness, swelling, tenderness, and bleeding may be early signs of gingivitis or periodontal disease. These symptoms are often linked to plaque and bacteria accumulating around or below the gumline.

Without proper care, inflammation can progress and begin affecting the tissues and bone that support your teeth.

Periodontal care may help with:

• Red, swollen, or tender gums
• Bleeding during brushing or flossing
• Persistent gum inflammation
• Plaque and tartar below the gumline
• Periodontal pockets
• Gum recession
• Early or advanced periodontal disease

📍 Now offering Periodontics services in Dallas & Mansfield

Our expanded Periodontics services also include Dental Implants, Bone Grafting, Cone Beam CT Technology, Sinus Augmentation, Soft Tissue Grafting, Crown Lengthening, Full-Arch Rehabilitation, Treatment of Periodontal Disease, and other Periodontic treatment modalities.

We are in network for both Periodontics and Endodontics with MetLife PPO, Aetna PPO, Ameritas PPO, Guardian PPO, Cigna PPO, Connection Dental PPO, Delta Dental PPO, Careington PPO / Careington Platinum POS & PPO, and Humana PPO.

If your gums continue to bleed, feel swollen, or look irritated, a periodontal evaluation can help determine the cause and the appropriate treatment.

Healthy gums should not regularly bleed. Early care can make a difference.

🦷 A Dental Abscess Should Never Be Ignored

A dental infection or abscess can develop when bacteria reach the inside of a tooth or the surrounding tissues. Common signs may include severe tooth pain, swelling, tenderness, a pimple-like bump on the gums, or discomfort when biting.

Endodontic treatment can help address the source of infection, relieve pain, and preserve the natural tooth whenever possible. Depending on the condition, treatment may include root canal therapy, re-treatment, drainage, or other endodontic procedures.

If swelling is spreading, or you develop fever, difficulty swallowing, or difficulty breathing, seek urgent medical or dental care.

Gum recession occurs when the gum tissue pulls away from the tooth, exposing the root surface.

This can lead to increased sensitivity, higher risk of decay, and potential damage to the supporting structures of the tooth. In some cases, gum recession may happen gradually, but sudden changes should be evaluated promptly.

Periodontal care can help manage gum health and prevent further progression.

If you notice your gums pulling back or your teeth appearing longer, it’s important to seek professional care.

Crown Lengthening

Sometimes more of the natural tooth needs to be exposed before a restoration can be properly placed. 🦷

Crown Lengthening is now available as part of our Periodontics services at Essential Endodontics in Dallas and Mansfield.

Crown lengthening is a periodontal procedure that reshapes the gum tissue and, when necessary, the supporting bone to expose more of the tooth above the gumline.

It may be recommended to:

• Provide enough tooth structure for a crown or restoration
• Treat decay or fractures that extend below the gumline
• Improve access for restorative dental treatment
• Reshape an uneven gumline
• Support long-term tooth function and periodontal health

📍 Now offering Periodontics services in Dallas & Mansfield

Our expanded Periodontics services also include Dental Implants, Bone Grafting, Cone Beam CT Technology, Sinus Augmentation, Soft Tissue Grafting, Treatment of Periodontal Disease, Full-Arch Rehabilitation, and other Periodontic treatment modalities.

Every case is different. Our team can evaluate the tooth, gumline, and supporting bone to determine whether crown lengthening is appropriate for your treatment plan.

Create the space needed for a stronger restoration and healthier smile.

🦷 A Previously Treated Tooth Can Sometimes Develop New Problems

Root canal re-treatment may be recommended when a tooth that previously had root canal therapy develops new pain, infection, or inflammation.

Possible reasons include missed canal anatomy, new decay, a cracked or leaking restoration, or bacteria re-entering the tooth.

During re-treatment, the endodontist reopens the tooth, removes the previous filling material, carefully cleans and disinfects the canals again, then reseals the tooth to help control infection and preserve the natural tooth whenever possible.

Additional Periodontic & Implant Services Available:

• Dental Implants

"Swelling around a single tooth is often a sign of a localized gum infection that should not be ignored.

This type of inflammation may indicate the early stages of a periodontal abscess or bacterial buildup affecting the surrounding tissue. If left untreated, it can progress and lead to discomfort, infection, or damage to the supporting structures of the tooth.

Early evaluation and treatment can help prevent complications and protect your oral health.

If you notice swelling in one area of your gums, it’s important to seek professional care.
