Being voted Hancock County’s Best Hair Stylist is hilarious when you consider I spent most of cosmetology school trying to figure out how little hair I could do and still legally graduate.
I HATED IT. 😂

There were so many days I wanted to drop out, get my lash license and never touch another mannequin head again. If you would’ve told 21-year-old me that one day people would voluntarily pay me to do their hair AND vote me the best at it, I probably would’ve asked what drugs you were on.

Yet here we are.
Hancock County’s Best Hair Stylist.

Proof that spite, stubbornness, caffeine and being just charismatic enough to convince people I know what I’m doing can apparently build an entire career.
Fake it till you make it? No.
Bu****it your way through the first few years until suddenly you realize you actually DO know what you’re doing.

Somewhere along the way I stopped hating hair, got pretty f’n good at it and built a clientele full of people who trust me enough to sit down and say “do whatever you want.”

Which is either a massive compliment or incredibly poor judgment on their part.

Either way, THANK YOU.
Seriously, thank you to every single person who voted for me, sits in my chair, sends their friends to me and has let me screw around with their head over the years.

Turns out talent can be learned.
Being likable enough to survive the learning curve, however, is a gift.

🏆 HANCOCK COUNTY’S BEST SALON 2026🏆

Out of 30 salons nominated, Whiplashed Studio was voted #1 Best Salon in Hancock County and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of saying that.

This one means a lot.

Whiplashed has never been about just filling chairs and calling it a salon. I wanted to build a place that felt different. A place with personality. A place where insanely talented women could build their own businesses, clients could walk in and immediately feel at home and we could do really good work without taking ourselves too seriously.

There have been growing pains, long days, expensive lessons, plenty of “what the hell am I doing” moments and a whole lot of figuring it out as we go.

But we built something really fu***ng cool here.

And apparently Hancock County agrees. 🖤

To every client who took the time to vote for us: THANK YOU. Whether you’ve been sitting in our chairs for years or just found us recently, every appointment, referral, share, review and vote has helped turn this place into what it is.

A huge thank you to The Daily Reporter for putting this on every year and for creating a fair voting system that gave everyone an equal shot this year. With 30 salons nominated, being chosen as the best is something we are incredibly proud of.

And while I’m bragging…

Michaelle & Avery got us voted in as Runner Up for Best Nail Salon. 🥹

There are so many talented nail artists in this county, so seeing TWO of the women from our little salon sitting at the top makes me ridiculously proud. They work hard, they’re talented as hell and they deserve every bit of that recognition.

Whiplashed also earned Runner Up for Best Spa, and considering our head spa is one of the newest additions to this place, that one feels pretty damn good too.
If you haven’t experienced it yet, come hide from the world with us for a while. Dim lights, warm water, scalp massages and absolutely nobody needing anything from you for an hour.
