Something we don’t talk about enough: it’s not just the implant that matters, it’s the gum tissue around it.
With titanium implants, we sometimes see a thin gray line show through the gums over time, especially in patients with naturally thin tissue. It’s harmless, but it’s not the look most people want.
Zirconia is different. The surface is smoother and less porous, so plaque has a harder time clinging to it — which means less irritation and inflammation around the implant long term. Gum tissue also tends to bond more tightly to zirconia, which helps create a better natural seal.
And because there’s no metal at all, you don’t get that gray shadowing. Just a healthy, pink gumline that looks like it belongs there.
