This little guy? My 4-year-old son-already a pro in the dental chair. 😄
So when SHOULD your child have their first dental visit?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends the first checkup by age 1 or within 6 months of that very first tooth coming in. By age 3–4, kids should be coming in every 6 months just like adults.
Here’s why it matters more than most parents realize:
🔹 Baby teeth are not “just temporary.” They hold space for adult teeth and play a huge role in speech, chewing, and confidence.
🔹 Early visits build lifelong habits. A child who grows up comfortable in the dental chair is an adult who actually comes to the dental chair.
🔹 We catch problems before they become big ones. Early decay, bite development, spacing concerns -we see it all early when it’s easiest to treat.
🔹 It’s about education, not just exams. We coach parents on brushing technique, diet, and what to watch for at home.
At Lakeside Dental, we’re proud to be a truly comprehensive practice -meaning we take care of everyone in your family, from the littlest smiles to grandma and grandpa. One trusted team. Every stage of life. 🦷
Because healthy smiles start earlier than you think. 😃
