Mouth Taping, Nasal Dilators and SLEEP!

It's weird having your dentist tell you to TAPE YOUR MOUTH SHUT at night! Now, I'm sure my husband and kids have thought of this option often, but ran out of duct tape>>> so back to the routine visit with Dr. Longria. In this Covid world, working from home, just downsizing to a smaller home, caring for a limited mobility husband AND an adorable 2 year old granddaughter, I assumed stress was the driver for lack of sleep and having chewed through my nightguard. My jaw hurt all the time and I was up every 60-90 minutes all night long. Had tested negative for sleep apnea (good), but woke myself up with snoring, dry mouth and sore throat. That led to drinking water and repeating the cycle because now I had a full bladder along with the dry mouth. So, just asked for a new nightguard, but came out with the funniest protocol I'd ever heard of!

Now, I use nasal dilators and tape my mouth shut EVERY night...leading to REAL, DEEP sleep! My jaw is pain free, I'm dreaming more (yea REM), and only get up once a night. After 2 months of this routine, I'm more rested, energetic and less stressed. Nothing else has changed, but the addition of quality sleep has improved my attitude and life. For less than $10 and giving in to looking goofy, my days are so much better!
