At any given time, HALF of Americans are suffering from gum disease. Over time, this can lead to tooth decay, bone loss, and severe damage to your mouth.

Here are some quick tips that can help you steer clear of gum disease (or keep it from getting worse).

1. Brush your teeth twice a day — for 2 minutes each time.

2. Don’t smoke.

3. Floss at least once a day.

4. When you brush, use an electric toothbrush for better results.

5. Ask your dentist to recommend a toothpaste.

6. Schedule your routine dental hygiene appointment every 6 months!

Call today to put your next cleaning on the books!

Here’s everyone’s favorite dental advice: Avoid sugar and sweets whenever you can. Not only do they feed the bacteria that can decay your teeth, but they also contribute to a diet that is lacking in the essential nutrients that teeth need to stay healthy and avoid cavities! 🍭🍬

Did you know that mental health and dental health are linked? 🧠✨🦷

It’s true — people suffering from depression tend to have a greater risk of dental problems like periodontal disease.

Now, this is probably because if you’re feeling depressed, you probably don’t have the energy to keep up with your dental care. But poor dental care can lead to dental problems that may impact your mood, too.

So do your best to support your mental health and your dental health. Your mind and body will thank you!

We’re excited to announce that October is Dental Hygiene Month! (What, you weren’t keeping track?) To mark the occasion, we will be giving out tips all month long on how YOU can improve your dental hygiene! 🦷 ✨

For today’s hygiene tip we suggest brushing your teeth twice a day! This will not only help battle morning breath, it can also reduce the chance that you develop gum disease.

So every morning and every night, squeeze that toothpaste onto your toothbrush. For best results, brush for at least two minutes each time! 2️⃣ 🎉

Try these four simple steps to keep your smile healthy!

1. Brush: Using a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, brush your teeth for two minutes at least twice a day.

2. Floss: Floss between your teeth once a day to remove plaque that escapes your toothbrush.

3. Rinse: Rinsing with an antimicrobial mouthwash helps to reach bacteria that brushing and flossing cannot.

4. Chew: Chewing sugar-free gum after a meal will help produce saliva, which fights cavities, neutralizes plaque, strengthens enamel, and cleans food debris from teeth.

Do you know that your smile is stronger than you think? Here are 5 reasons why:

1. Tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the body.
2. Your bite is powerful!
3. Teeth can last for hundreds of years.
4. Strong as they are, teeth can’t heal on their own.
5. Healthy teeth have the power to resist decay, but they need our help.

Nothing is more important than your smile. Treat it right and it will return the favor. 😉
