We didn’t have airbags.
We had Mom’s arm.
That one instant move…
that came out of nowhere like a superhero reflex.
You didn’t question it.
You just froze.
Because you knew…
if her arm came across your chest, something serious just happened.
No seatbelts half the time.
Sliding across the back seat like it was a skating rink.
And then suddenly…
that arm locked you in place like a seatbelt made of pure authority.
Did it save us?
Maybe.
Did it scare us?
Absolutely.
But somehow… we always felt safe.
Not because of technology.
But because Mom was in control.
And honestly…
no modern safety feature has ever felt quite like that.
