✨ MEET OUR PATIENT JEFF! ✨

In 2022, Jeff experienced a stroke. Since then, he has wheeled himself into the Prime Ortho office in his wheelchair while working to regain his ability to walk.

Over the past year, Jeff has put in countless hours practicing, strengthening, and working toward this goal. And TODAY… everything changed. 👏

Using both the Myomo arm and Tectus leg brace, Jeff WALKED HIMSELF into the office! 🎉

WOW. WOW. WOW. What an incredible moment and a reminder that progress takes patience, perseverance, and the right support. ❤️

Summer Internship Recap!

What better way to wrap up an incredible summer at Prime Ortho than with a hands on final project! Our interns, Sarah and McKenna, took on the challenge of creating custom AFOs for each other from start to finish.

From casting and measurements to modifying, molding, finishing, and fitting, they got to experience the full fabrication process firsthand while working alongside Cory. 🙌

This project brought together everything they learned throughout the summer and gave them the opportunity to see just how much precision, teamwork, problem solving, and patient centered care goes into creating an orthosis that’s the right fit for life. 💙

We’re so proud of how much our interns learned, challenged themselves, and grew this summer. What an amazing way to finish out the internship! 👏

From California to South Carolina to touring the historic streets of Boston without fatigue!

Welcome to Day 3, the final day of Ken Cornell’s CMT Mobility Rescue clinic. Watch how much more confidently and smoothly this patient is now walking through the park.

But the best part of this story actually happened the very next day. After leaving the clinic, she sent Ken a message saying she was able to spend the entire day touring Boston on foot- with zero fatigue!

That is the power of proper bracing combined with expert training in how to use it.

⏪ Missed Day 1? Check out yesterday’s video to see this patients walking without bracing!

In the past, going to the beach simply wasn't an option for this patient. It was something she avoided entirely. But this is Day 2 of the CMT Mobility Rescue clinic, and her progress is amazing.

For individuals living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT), terrains like sand are a constant source of anxiety. Without stability, the risk of trips and falls is incredibly high.

With her new braces and specialized gait training, this patient transitions from navigating a ramp to tackling the beach. First, with Ken’s guidance. Then, with the support of her husband. And finally... walking completely on her own.

At our facility, we’ve had great success helping CMT patients regain their mobility, and seeing these specific techniques in action gives our clinician, Cory, even more tools to help our local NY, NJ, and CT patients conquer their own everyday terrain.

The transformation isn’t over yet! Check back tomorrow for Day 3 to see her continue to improve her mobility (and an incredible message she sent the next day!)

Imagine flying across the country to learn how to walk better and more confidently. ✈️

That’s exactly what this young woman did, traveling all the way from California to South Carolina to attend CMT Mobility Rescue clinic run by Ken Cornell, CO.

Our very own clinician, Cory - who already works closely with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) patients in NY, NJ, and CT - is deeply committed to continuous learning. He also traveled to Ken’s clinic to collaborate, study his techniques, and bring the absolute best care back to our community.

In this video, you can see her initial gait on Day 1 without bracing.

She spent the rest of Day 1 inside being fit with AFOs (Ankle-Foot Orthoses) and learning how to utilize them for improved mobility.

👉 This is only Day 1 of a 3-day transformation. Stay tuned tomorrow for Day 2 to see her take on the terrain outdoors!
