Happy New Year!

Dear Patients and friends:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few
months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed,
one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want
to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes during your appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For
example:

 Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same
questions again when you are in the office.

 Upon arrival patients will be greeted by our office personnel. We ask only the patient enter the office, all others
are asked to wait in their cars or outside during the appointment. If you have concerns about your child, we can
make arrangements for one parent to accompany their child.

i. Temperature will be taken. Under 100 degrees is okay, if over then we will reschedule. For those traveling long
distances, you may want to check their temperature before coming to the appointment.
ii. Patients will be given hand sanitizer.
iii. At this time, we will give an oral rinse to the patient consisting of 1.5% hydrogen peroxide and directed to a
restroom.
iv. The patient will be asked to rinse with this solution for 20 seconds and also asked to wash their hands at this time.

 You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items
are difficult to clean and disinfect. The tooth brush station will no longer be available. We ask that you brush before your appointment.

 Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

 We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of people in the reception area at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to
keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,

Your Team at Kim & Lee Orthodontics

Concerned about a minor orthodontic issue and stuck at home? Don't sweat it. Read these tips on how to handle an orthodontic issue on your own: https://bit.ly/2QHcvS7.

If your orthodontist’s office is currently postponing any non-emergent appointments, you may be wondering how to handle orthodontic issues at home. While there are steps you can take, your orthodontist should always be notified.

Dear Patients,

In accordance with the proclamation recently handed down by Governor Jay Inslee of the State of Washington on Thursday March 19th, our office is making the following changes to our schedules effective immediately.

Beginning Friday, March 20th we will no longer be seeing patients for their scheduled routine appointments. We are uncertain at this time when we will be able to restart non-emergent care, a potential date has been set for May 18, 2020, but this may change at any time. We are contacting each patient personally and explaining the situation and will start rescheduling as soon as things become more certain. Your treatment is very important to us and we want to see your smiles back as soon as this “curve has flattened” and it is considered safe to attend non-emergent appointments again.

We will continue to be seeing patients for any emergencies and other pain causing issues. If you are experiencing dental pain from your orthodontic treatment call us immediately. All orthodontic consultations, separator, bandings and retainer checks will be rescheduled.

We will be working condensed schedules with limited staff to attend to patients and field phone calls, to limit exposure of COVID-19 and respect “social distancing” protocols for all.

For patients coming into our offices, we kindly ask the following:

-Please call us from the parking lot to alert us to your arrival so we can be ready to seat you.
-Patients ONLY attend their appointments. Please ask your ride-share to remain in the car. We are trying to minimize the number of people in our waiting rooms.

Please be patient with us. This is an unknown time for all of us and we are doing our best to provide the care that you’ve come to expect.

The safety of our patients, dental team and communities are of the utmost importance. We will continue to take phone calls to answer questions and schedule emergency appointments. We wish you all the best. Remember, wash your hands, cover you cough, brush and floss your teeth and be kind to one another. We look forward to seeing everyone’s smiles again very soon.

Yours in dental health,

The AAO supports the recommendation from White House Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Birx to postpone any elective dentistry for the next two weeks – through the end of March. We will be calling our patients to reschedule appointments. Dr Kim and Dr Lee will be available for emergencies only, so please call the office if you are having an emergency, and we will work with you on a case by case basis.

Sincerely,

Kim and Lee Orthodontics Team
