What about George???
George Lake that is... 🌊

On June 8, 2026, the Fairmont City Council will hear an update from Premier Lake Harvesting regarding Phase 1 of the City’s Curly Leaf Pondw**d (CLP) removal efforts on Fairmont lakes. The update is expected to include harvesting progress and the success of Phase 1.

Council is anticipated to consider whether to proceed with Phase 2 of the project, with harvesting to occur on additional lake areas on George Lake, Hall Lake, and Budd Lake, as well as other identified locations.

For those interested in additional background information, previous Council agenda materials are available on the City of Fairmont websit at www.fairmont.org (see dates to reference below).

Previous Council actions regarding the project::
β€’ October 27, 2025 – Authorization to issue an RFP for mechanical harvesting of CLP
β€’ December 9, 2025 – Approval to proceed with contract development with Premier Lake Harvesting LLC
β€’ March 9, 2026 – Approval to proceed with Phase 1 only, with direction to return to Council prior to Phase 2 consideration
β€’ March 23, 2026 – Approval of the Contractor Service Agreement for the project

Thank you for your patience as CLP is removed during Phase 1 and for sharing your thoughts, questions and concerns regarding additional harvesting efforts on Fairmont's other lakes. 🌿🌿🌿

🌿 Curly Leaf Pond (CLP) W**d Lake Harvesting Update 🌿

Premier Lake Harvesting, contracted by the City of Fairmont for curly-leaf pondw**d harvesting, had a strong start to the CLP harvesting season last week β€” completing Amber Lake and making progress on Sisseton Lake!

The bad news: Due to equipment issues, harvesting is temporarily paused. The good news: Parts are on the way, with harvesting expected to resume Monday, June 1 (possibly sooner if repairs are completed early 🀞).

Once operations resume, there is approximately 1–2 days remaining on Sisseton Lake before moving on to Budd Lake.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as CLP removal efforts are occuring. 🚀
