To our Valued Patients,
We are reaching out to you to tell you about some exciting news!
Our Certified Dental Assistant, Kristin, will be welcomed into a new role within our office as an EFDA starting this May.
You may be wondering what an EFDA is? An Expanded Functions Dental Assistant is a Certified Dental Assistant who has acquired additional schooling and training in order to obtain the skills and licensure that allows them to perform some procedures that you might usually associate with ones that your dentist would typically do. These procedures include things such as placing fillings, polishing, applying fluoride, and placing sealants, among other procedures.
While some patients might wonder why an EFDA is placing their filling, they should know that the doctor will be starting the procedure and ensuring the health and longevity of the tooth structure, at that point the EFDA steps in and takes over. We want you to know with certainty that you are being treated by a dental professional who may have already placed hundreds of fillings! This new position also enables more patients to be seen in a timely manner by allowing the dentist to move on to the next patient or procedure, working as a more effective and efficient dental team.
We want to congratulate her on her new role, and you may be seeing her in her new position at one of your restorative appointments in the future!
