We love a cute manicure, but when IV Sedation is involved, your nails can be more than just a style detail.

During sedation, we use a pulse oximeter to monitor the oxygen level in your bloodstream. That monitor sits on your finger and reads through the nail plate, which means gel polish, acrylics, extensions, nail polish, or thick nail art can sometimes get in the way of a clear reading.

🚨 And that reading matters. If we can’t get a reliable pulse ox reading, we may not be able to safely proceed with IV Sedation as planned. That could mean adjusting your Anesthesia plan, doing the procedure awake, or rescheduling altogether.

So yes, we love seeing your nail art. But before Oral Surgery, especially if Sedation is part of your plan, we may need a few nails bare for safety.
