She was only in her twenties. While Kate Butler’s life was tragically cut short in 2022, her legacy lives on.
On August 14, Yadkin River Dental Spa and YVEDDI will honor Kate's legacy by providing free dental care to survivors of interpersonal violence, women, and children in our community who are facing significant barriers to accessing care.
Because when someone has experienced trauma, restoring a smile isn't just dentistry.
It's dignity.

She was only in her twenties.

She believed that every person deserved to feel safe, heard, and valued.

And then, far too soon, she was gone.

Her name was Kate Butler.

Kate graduated as valedictorian from NC State, but the title she would have been proudest of wasn't "valedictorian."

It was advocate.

As a leader with NCSU The Movement, Kate dedicated herself to educating others, preventing interpersonal violence, and standing beside survivors during some of the darkest moments of their lives. She believed that kindness wasn't just something you felt—it was something you did.

Although Kate's life was tragically cut short in 2022, her compassion continues to ripple through our community.

On August 14, Yadkin River Dental Spa and YVEDDI Yadkin County Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Program will honor Kate's legacy by providing free dental care to survivors of interpersonal violence, women, and children in our community who are facing significant barriers to accessing care.

Because when someone has experienced trauma, restoring a smile isn't just dentistry.

It's dignity.

It's confidence.

It's hope.

This clinic isn't about fixing teeth.

It's about reminding people that they matter.

That they are seen.

That they are worthy of care.

Some people in our community are making impossible choices.

"Do I pay for groceries or fix my tooth?"
"Do I leave an unsafe situation if I can't afford care for my children?"
"Do I just live with the pain?"

On August 7 and August 14, we're hoping to change that.

Yadkin River Dental Spa is proud to partner with YVEDDI Yadkin County Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Program to provide a **FREE dental clinic** for survivors of domestic violence and vulnerable women and children in Surry, Stokes and Yadkin Counties.

For many, this may be the first time in years they've smiled without pain, eaten without discomfort, or felt seen and cared for.

• Oral health education

✈️ We didn't travel to Arizona for a vacation... we went to become better dentists. 🦷

This week, Dr. Brian and Dr. K completed an intensive advanced implant training program at Implant Pathway in Arizona.

Through live surgical cases, hands-on training, treatment planning, and the latest techniques in dental implants and implant-supported overdentures, we invested in one thing above all else—better care for our patients.

We are incredibly grateful to learn from an amazing faculty of mentors, including Dr. Steve Enea, Dr. Michelle Caldwell, Dr. Igor Borisov, Dr. Alex Rubinov, Dr. Claudio Miro, and many others who are shaping the future of implant dentistry.

This week, Yadkin River Dental Spa was a little quieter while Dr. Brian and Dr. K traveled to in Arizona for an intensive week-long advanced dental implant training program.

This wasn’t your typical continuing education course. It was an immersive experience combining advanced lectures, treatment planning, live surgical cases, hands-on training, and the latest techniques in dental implants and implant dentures.

We had the privilege of learning from an incredible faculty of internationally respected implant educators, including Dr. Steve Enea, Dr. Michelle Caldwell, Dr. Igor Borisov, Dr. Alex Rubinov, Dr. Claudio Miro, and many other outstanding mentors whose passion for education was truly inspiring.

One of our core beliefs has always been simple:
Our patients deserve dentists who never stop learning.

That means investing our own time to travel, ask questions, challenge ourselves, and continually refine our skills so we can bring the most advanced, evidence-based care back to the community we love.

Dental implants are about so much more than replacing missing teeth. They can restore confidence, improve the ability to eat comfortably, preserve bone, and help people smile again without hesitation. Every new technique we learn has one purpose: providing exceptional care for the people who trust us with their smiles.
