“Brought a printed X-ray with her.”

I walked in talking like normal…
💀 It was a fully dressed skeleton. Wig, outfit, shoes—everything.
I was mid-conversation before I realized
I’ve never been played this hard in my life.

What a special week at Yadkin River Dental Spa. 🦷💙

We celebrated **Dental Assistants Appreciation Week, Dentist’s Day, Olivia’s birthday, and Dr. Brian’s first day seeing patients in the office** — so many meaningful moments all in one week!

Our dental assistants do so much behind the scenes every day to care for our patients, and it was wonderful to take time to recognize their hard work and dedication. I was also deeply touched by the kindness my team showed me for Dentist’s Day with a homemade meal, a movie night gift basket, and other thoughtful surprises.

We also celebrated **Olivia, our amazing hygienist, on her birthday Wednesday!** 🎉

It was especially exciting to welcome **my husband, Dr. Brian, for his first Monday morning seeing patients at the office.** We’re looking forward to him continuing to join our team on Mondays and helping us care for the wonderful people of the Yadkin Valley.

And now I’m heading to **Glidewell Labs in Irvine, California for continuing education on dental implants.** I’m excited to keep learning and growing so I can bring new skills and advanced care back home to serve our patients and community.

Weeks like this remind me how grateful I am for this team and the community we’re privileged to serve.

In a small town, the front desk isn’t just a job… it’s where friendships begin, stories are shared, and people feel at home. ❤️

This week, the Yadkin Valley said goodbye — and congratulations — to someone who has quietly touched countless lives.

**Carol Minton has officially retired from Yadkin River Dental Spa, formerly the office of Dr. Gavin Harrell.**

For years, Carol has been the warm voice answering your calls, the smiling face greeting you by name, and the steady presence helping patients through nervous moments, big procedures, and life’s everyday conversations. She didn’t just check people in… she checked on them. Many patients came through our doors asking for Carol first — because to them, she felt like family.

We started the morning simply with Starbucks and a pizza lunch to celebrate her dedication.

But Carol had no idea the community had something much bigger planned.

With the incredible support of the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce. and the Yadkin River Dental Spa team (special thanks to Teresa Norman), we surprised her after work with a BBQ dinner celebration at the Yadkin Valley Heritage and Trails Center Elkin NC! Surrounded by colleagues, friends, and family, the evening was filled with laughter, singing, dancing, storytelling, and the kind of fellowship that only happens when a life has truly made an impact.

Moments like this remind us that dentistry is never just about teeth. It’s about people. It’s about neighbors caring for neighbors. And it’s about the relationships that make the Yadkin Valley such a special place to call home.

Carol, thank you for every smile you shared, every patient you comforted, and every relationship you built. Your kindness helped shape our office and our community, and you will be deeply missed by our team and by so many patients.
