Office update #2:
We are very excited to introduce you to Nova, our office therapy dog! Nova is no ordinary dog. She has trained for 2 years at an Assistance Dogs International accredited organization alongside disability service dogs. You may see Nova in the office for the next 4 months getting used to her new job before she finalizes her training and is available to help treat our patients. Once she has completed her task training in the office, she will be available to our patients during their dental treatment. She will be able to stand next to the chair to provide support and companionship, as well as perform our personal favorite command, “Squish,” where she can lay on top of the patient, acting like a weighted blanket to help reduce anxiety.

Please note: We know that some people do not like dogs and that some people have allergies. We already have several systems in place to help. If you are not a fan of dogs, that is OK, please just let us know and we will make sure Nova is not present in the treatment area when you are in the office. For allergies, we have a variety of different methods to minimize allergens. In addition to our regular office cleaning protocols, we also have HEPA air filters in every room, as well as two Atmos Air Bipolar Ionization units in our HVAC system which constantly clean the air and should greatly reduce any allergens. Finally, we want your experience with Nova to be a positive one, so she will be groomed and bathed frequently.

Now we would like to share a real example of how our CBCT scanner helped one of our patients get more informed care.

-A patient recently came in with tooth pain and discomfort. After taking a regular x-ray, we were able to see that an infection was causing the pain. We could have provided options for treatment based on that information but we wanted to know more before doing so.

-Upon taking the 3D scan we noted something additional and very important. We already knew about the infection (green arrow), but now we were able to visualize a separate lesion (red arrow). This type of lesion makes certain procedures significantly more complex and reduces the long term prognosis of the tooth.

-The 3D scan allowed us to give the patient a better idea of what to expect for his tooth and allowed the patient to make a more informed decision about his treatment.

-We were then able to make a referral to the appropriate specialist based on the patient's decision.

In the long term, this technology will likely lead to less treatment, less frustration, and cost savings for our patients!

Office update #1 of 3:

We are excited to add 3D CBCT scanning technology to our office!

This scanner will allow us to visualize and diagnose issues more accurately than ever before.

Our scanner allows us to:

-obtain X-rays without a sensor in your mouth for those with a significant gag reflex

-visualize the entire face (when needed) or just a small section to help reduce radiation

-see details about infections that allow us to make more accurate clinical decisions

-digitally plan advanced implant cases
