We’ve been busy caring for smiles here in Edinburg, and we’re excited to let you know that we have added a hygienist to our team, Kaitlin Edens. Kaitlin has been part of Laing Family Dental Care since its beginning. She started her career as a dental assistant, working for two years before deciding to pursue her passion for dental hygiene. Kaitlin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hagerstown Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree. She is licensed to administer nitrous oxide and local anesthesia and holds dental hygiene licenses in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. A lifelong resident of Clear Brook, Kaitlin is proud to serve and care for members of our community and beyond. Her presence enriches the thoughtful, patient-centered care we provide.

Making changes isn't always easy, whether it be removing a long-standing tree or a change to our everyday habits! For example: yesterday Laing Family Dental Care had Timber Works Tree Care remove a tree on our property. This tree seemed healthy, and it provided a lot of shade on our property. Unfortunately, the tree was growing over the neighbor’s property, and it was getting very tall and had some damage. With summer storms approaching we felt it was best to have the tree removed, rather than have it fall on the neighbor’s property and cause damage. The removal of this tree was not an easy decision being that once it’s gone, it takes a lot to replace it. We did not want change but for the good of the future we chose to move in a better direction and remove it before that "too late" moment. We can plant a new tree and it will take several years of growing and care to regain the shade we once had. This story relates with our overall health and teeth also. Many times, we know the problems with our diet, but we choose to wait until there is a problem before we make a change. Then we are forced to make changes, maybe some that we are very uncomfortable with. The same with our teeth we eat sugary snacks or sugary drinks, and we notice some sensitivity or a slight change and think it will go away. Then it’s "too late", the pain sets in and the rush to see the dentist to make the pain stop. Dr. Laing would like to encourage you today to take care of your teeth and overall health by making simple changes to your diet and habits to help prevent those too late moments! As Laing Family Dental Care approaches our one-year anniversary of being open in the our office in Edinburg, VA. We are truly grateful to all the patients that have made this practice a success. Many of you know we are a locally owned practice, but you may not have known is Dr. Daneya Laing grew up right here in the Shenandoah Valley. Dr. Laing has been in the dental field for 20+ years, with degrees in Dental Hygiene and Doctor of Dental Science. Laing Family Dental Care would like to introduce our Dentist: Dr. Daneya N. Laing. Dr. Laing was born and raised in Fort Valley right here in the Shenandoah Valley. Dr. Laing started working summers as a dental assistant while still attending school. After graduating Central High School, Dr. Laing chose to become a Dental Hygienist. Dr. Laing graduated from Virginia Western Community College in 1997 receiving an associate degree in Dental Hygiene. Dr Laing then returned to the Shenandoah Valley as a Dental Hygienist where she worked for over 20 years. In 2011 Dr Laing decided to follow her desire to become a Doctor of Dental Surgery. She enrolled at Old Dominion University and George Mason University taking night and evening classes to complete a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene in 2013.She then went on to be accepted at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond where she graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2020. Dr. Laing received 2 recognition awards, the first was from the Academy of General Dentistry for having exhibited the greatest interest, skill, and proficiency in the field of General Dentistry during the senior year; the second award was from Quintessence Publishing for her success in the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry program and her outstanding skills in the field of Periodontics. Dr. Laing and her husband Michael are truly blessed to have seven children and consider themselves fortunate to live, work, and raise a family in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
