Six 30-minute acid baths a day, and you didn't realize it was happening.
Every time you sip something sweet or snack on something starchy, your enamel takes about a 30-minute acid bath while your saliva works to neutralize it. Six small snacks throughout the day means six 30-minute attacks. One sit-down meal with dessert means one.
It's not how much sugar you eat. It's how often. Cluster your sweets if you can. Drink water between meals instead of grazing on coffee or pop. Your teeth recover better that way.
That's Habit 03. Habit 04 is the one most people learn the hard way: waiting until something hurts is too late. A check-up catches the small stuff. A small filling beats a root canal. A regular cleaning beats a deep cleaning. The cost of a check-up is almost always less than what waiting costs you.
