Statement from Caffall Dental Care

We, like many of you, are just now learning the details surrounding the recent arrest of Dr. Lane, a former dentist at our practice. He was escorted from our office by law enforcement early last week as our team arrived for work. At that time, we were given no explanation and had no knowledge of the situation or the reason for his removal.

Today, we were made aware of the charges and are deeply shocked and saddened by his actions.

Caffall Dental Care is committed to providing high-quality dental care with empathy, integrity, and professionalism. Dr. Lane’s conduct stands in direct opposition to our values, and he is no longer employed by our office.

We want to assure our patients and community that we are fully dedicated to maintaining a safe, trustworthy environment. Our reputation for compassionate care and professional excellence has been built over 45 years, and we remain firmly committed to those standards.

Our hearts and prayers are with those affected.

The history of dentures is long, dating back to as early as 700BC. The earliest sets of dentures were created by tying human and animal teeth together with wire and binding to still-existing teeth to anchor the prosthetic. Although they quickly deteriorated, they were easy to replace, and so these were made for people all the way up to the 17th century. At that point, porcelain was being experimented with, but was short-lived because of its lack of aesthetic and brittle nature. Quickly moving on from porcelain, people reverted back to using animal and human teeth (often taken from executed criminals), but were more carefully shaped to fix properly and look better. The myth of George Washington's teeth being made of wood is just that - a myth! He had top-of-the-line dentures that were created with real teeth mounted on ivory from animals. In the next 200 years, dentures would again evolve, and porcelain would again be used, this time with a more thorough understanding on how to make them durable and beautiful. This is one of the techniques that is still being used today, although there are various plastics and rubbers used along side it to create a beautiful, flawless, natural looking smile. There is more technology that is being discovered/experimented with that has some doctor 3-D printing dentures, but we'll see how well that goes!

WE GIVE A LOT of advice about dental care, but sometimes the biggest oral health concern someone has is that they just burned their mouth because they couldn’t wait for that first bite of lasagna to cool down. 😮 These tips should help:
Sip cold water. Stay hydrated to encourage saliva production. Saliva will protect the burned area from bacteria. Also the cold water feels good. 💦
Pause eating the hot food and cool things down with a snack from the fridge. Maybe even go for a ...smoothie or some froyo.

Swish some salt water! It’ll help fight bacteria so the burned area can heal. (This is also a good remedy after a dental procedure or for sore gums.)
Apply sugar or honey directly to the burned area to speed up the healing process. 🍯 The damaged cells can use it for quick energy. Just make sure to rinse with water after!
For a bad burn, a mild pain-reliever isn’t a bad idea. Luckily, oral tissues are the fastest-healing in the entire body, so it shouldn’t take more than a few days to get better
