Every child deserves to smile without feeling self-conscious.

Sometimes that means restoring teeth that have been affected by cavities or trauma. In cases like these, one appointment can completely change the way a child feels when they look in the mirror.

Behind every before and after is a child who gets to smile a little bigger, laugh a little louder, and just feel a lot more confident.

🪥 Pop Quiz!

At what age can kids *really* start brushing their teeth independently?

If you guessed 8–10 years old, you’re correct! 🎉

Even though they may want to brush by themselves much earlier, most children don’t have the hand coordination and dexterity to remove plaque effectively until they’re around 8–10 years old.

Here’s what we recommend:
✨ Support their independence! Let your child practice brushing on their own.
✨ Then you can follow up by brushing for them to make sure every tooth gets clean.
✨ Continue helping until they’re consistently able to do a thorough job.

✅A good rule of thumb? If they still need help tying their shoes or writing neatly, they probably still need help brushing, too. 🪥👟✍️

There are situations where we can slow things down, keep your child comfortable, and still take care of the problem without jumping straight into drilling.

That’s where SDF comes in.
