Since All-On-4s can do more with less and are well-suited for those with thinner jawbones, you might be wondering if they’re actually stronger than implant dentures that have more posts.🤔

The answer is: not exactly. 😅

Implant dentures with 6 or 8 posts distribute pressure more evenly than All-On-4s. So although All-On-4s are strong in their own right, implant dentures with more posts can withstand more wear and tear and tend to last longer.💁

The more you know! 🌠

Since the implant posts for an All-On-4 denture are positioned differently than they are for a standard denture, All-On-4s have one unique advantage: they’re perfect for those with thinner jawbones!✨

Patients who don’t have enough jawbone mass for a “regular” implant restoration can often successfully support All-On-4s. So if you’d rather not have a bone grafting procedure, All-On-4s could be the solution for you.😌

Last month, we mentioned that implant dentures use 6 to 8 implants, while All-On-4s use, well, only 4. How are All-On-4s able to use fewer dental implants than a standard implant denture?🤔

It actually has to do with the way the dental implants are placed. 💡

For the most part, an oral surgeon will position the titanium posts straight up and down for a standard implant denture. But for an All-On-4, the posts near the back of the mouth will be placed at a 45-degree angle. 📐🧐 This maximizes the amount of bone material keeping the implants in place, allowing the restoration to do more with less.

Basically, it’s all about physics!☝️🤓

This might be the understatement of the year, but dental insurance is confusing! 😫 It’s no surprise that we’re frequently asked whether dental insurance will cover dental implant treatment in Virginia.

Here’s the short answer:
You may receive partial coverage.

Here’s the long answer:
Dental insurance benefits don’t typically cover the implants themselves. However, you might be able to use your benefits to cover other aspects of your treatment, like an oral exam, X-rays, tooth extraction, and the crown, bridge, or denture that will be connected to the implants. Some plans provide a sort of “allowance” that can be used for various treatments, including dental implants, so this may be another option.

The best way to know exactly how much coverage you’ll receive is to contact your dental insurance provider or one of our friendly team members!😉

We know the dental implant treatment process can sound intense. One of the first questions we get during consultations is “will it hurt?” 🫣

Rest assured, our team is able to administer multiple forms of sedation, including general anesthesia. 🫡 You’ll be quite comfortable during your dental implant surgery, and will likely have very little memory of the experience. We’ll also support you through your recovery to help ensure post-op soreness is minimal.😇

Just remember to have a trusted friend or family member drive you to and from the office. 😉

“Are dental implants safe?” 😬

We see this question a lot. No one wants to undergo a risky procedure, so it makes sense. Plus, dental implants are a big commitment, making it important to weigh all of the pros and cons. 📋 ✔️

Fortunately, there’s decades of research about the safety of dental implants, and this treatment is continuously monitored by the FDA and ADA. 🔬

The verdict: dental implants are safe.✨ Complications are rare and failure rates are very low. In 90% of cases, dental implants last for 10 years without issue. 💅

You don’t have to be overly concerned about the safety of dental implants, but it’s also perfectly understandable to be nervous! That’s part of the reason why consultations are so important. 😉

There’s quite a bit of confusion about the different types of dental implants – which is understandable! Some of them are very similar to each other. 😅

Every type has its nuances, but here’s a general snapshot:

🦷 “Dental Implant” typically refers to 1 titanium implant post connected to a porcelain crown.
🦷 An “Implant Bridge” can have anywhere from 1 – 8 titanium posts depending on how long the connected bridge is.
🦷 “Implant Dentures” are a full-arch tooth replacement that uses 6 to 8 titanium posts connected to a full denture.
🦷 “All-On-4s” are like implant dentures, except they only use 4 posts instead of 6 or 8. You might also see them called “All-On-X.”

Remember, it’s all about the number of implant posts and what kind of restoration is being provided!💡
